Starting January 14th, 1997 ShadowLight Productions will be holding an ongoing performers workshop series for those interested in learning about shadow theater. This series is for new performers and our current company members. Original ideas and new directions will be explored within the series led by company members.
Skills to develop: Mask and puppet making, improvisation, lighting techniques, story development, staging.
ShadowLight Productions uses projected shadows and original music to create a new kind of theater which combines the power of shadows, the scale of film, and the immediacy of live performance.
We are at the forefront of a world-wide resurgence of interest in shadow theater. Our activities range from intimate traveling shows to large scale extravaganzas, from traditional and original productions to design projects, international collaborations, workshops and lectures. Artistic Director, Larry Reed was selected as one of the top fifty arts leaders in San Francisco by SFLive and has twice won the UNIMA Citation for Excellence, puppetry's highest award.
Our workshops for performers will begin January 14th on Tuesday nights from 7-9:30 PM at the SOMAR theater, 934 Brannan Street in San Francisco. The workshops are $10 each or 6 sessions for $50.
